This morning while Bennett was getting Arianna and Samantha for scripture study, I reflected on how getting our family scripture study time going, very well could be the best thing we ever did for ourselves. It's been just what we were promised.
So, that got me to thinking about the things I've done in my life that are also "the best thing I ever did for myself". Since I really cannot prioritize things like this, they are in chronological order.
Here goes:
* Stayed home from Somalia
* Told my dad I loved him
* Turned my faith over to the Lord
* Graduated from college
* Taught school
* Broke up with Mike
* Married Bennett
* Taught Arianna how to make her bed
* Got pregnant with #4
* Got family scripture study going
* Drove to Utah for Esther's baptism
I was going to elaborate on each one. But I think that would require an entire post each. So, I'll post as is. I also think it's time for a new life-changer.
What are some of the best decisions you've ever made?
short sweet though provoking and a little peek into your mind and life. Thanks! some of the best things I ever did.... move out and live on my own, go to college, break up with Ethan, married Jamie, had a son, paid for Savanah's piano lessions, changed schools for Savanah, pushed to get Katelyn on Swim team...... I think I could have a huge list. so many decisions have been pivotal to bigger and better outcomes. :) thanks for posting again. :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this! I definately am interested in some of the stories/thoughts behind some of your bests.
ReplyDeleteHere's my list, also in chronoligical order: Somalia, listened to my primary teacher, moved to center street, prayed to know the church was true, insisted on therapy, was homeschooled, broke up with Tim, mission-all of it, college, married Andrew, Emma's funeral, teaching preschool, having Kate, having Kenya. A few friends along the way that have changed my life: Aaron, Flor, Lorna.
The funny thing about this, as I am thinking back on my life I realize these are only the things I can think of. I wonder what Heavenly Father's list for me would be. With His divine knowledge would his list be different than mine, maybe include things I thought to be inconsequential?
Thanks for sharing this great list. Knowing the back story about most of the best things makes it all the more meaningful for me, and I'm interested to see what you'll post about this in the future. It also makes me thik of what some of my best things are. Here are a few off the top of my head:
ReplyDelete* Read the Book of Mormon on my own.
* Stayed at BYU a second semester.
* Moved home for the summer.
* Committed to a mission.
* Moved to Centerville.
* Gave myself a second chance with math.
* Transferred to USU.
* Talked to the department head about a job.
* Married Lori.
* Became a dad.
* Gave up the band.
* Complained to my kids' school.
* Listen to my wife (whenever I do it really really).
Some things I haven't thought about for a long time, and good for long conversations sometimes, even though you know most of those stories anyway. Thanks for the memories! :)
