I'm trying something new.

Picasa is supposed to make my life easier... or so I've been promised.

My 2nd biggest hang up with blogging is the rigamaroll (is that even a word???) that it takes to upload pictures... and the pictures make the blog, right? So, theoretically, this will be a snap now that my pictures are all accessible through Picasa2. We'll see.

Bennett says Samantha looks like me in this picture. What do you think?

Woo Hoo! It worked. I'm just doing a little happy dance here. Doing computer stuff sure can make you feel like a genius when something goes right (and a freaking moron when it doesn't.)

As per Bennett's comment. The above picture was taken at the San Luis Rey Mission. It was a field trip with Samantha's class that I was able to tag along on. This particular area is probably where the Mormon Battalion hung out "protecting" the mission from those scary injuns. :)

Here's is Samantha with her good friend, Veronica. She the other LDS girl in the 4th grade. I just wish she didn't live 15 miles away in the valley. :(
Samantha always has a smile.

This is the front door of the mission. For those of you who are not California State History savvy, the missions were built along the California coast, a day journey from each other, by the Spaniards, in a effort to "secure the border". They doubled as a place to convert the indians to Christianity... specifically, Catholicism. While noble in thought, I'm afraid there was not much noble behavior and a whole lot of force and coersion going on here. They are a big part of the California State History Standards for 4th graders.
Big fancy church to coerce indians to believe as they did.

This is the whole class after eating lunch, sitting on and in front of a non-functional fountain. It was actually a pretty stressful day for everyone due to some behavior issues.
Sorry about the fingerprint on the right. It must have been some of my lunch on the lens as all the pictures have it.

I hope all this worked.

  3. Wow, some of those kids look older than I remember forth graders looking. Nice pictures. I agree, computer stuff can really feel like the seperater between the genius' and the morons. I know I feel so smart when I think I have figured something out and it goes right.

  5. Yay! I am glad Picasa is working for you. I think it always makes the posts more interesting to have pictures. It is great that the kids get to learn about California history. It seems like in Utah you only get to learn about Church History...from every aspect...which don't get me wrong, is great but it is just nice to broaden your horizons.

  6. We use picasa too. I generally have Tommy do all the computer blogging stuff...so you are braver than me. Fun fact: I did this SAME field trip when I was in 4th grade. I got my leg stuck in some wood railing and I thought they were going to have to saw it out and then I would be responsable for destroying the old mission.

  7. Ahhh! I couldn't figure out how to comment on the playlist post. Anyway, I love this song...I cry when I hear it and I don't even have a daughter yet. You are so blessed with four beautiful girls. I love them sooooo much. I wish I could be with them more because I heart is lonely without them. I love you and please give them each a hug and a kiss for me and tell them I love them. Thanks!
